sproof Sign allows you, via the eID Hub, to use your national eID (Qualified trust service provider), such as ID-Austria, directly in sproof Sign. This module explains how to obtain such an eID if you do not yet have one.
📑 Step-by-Step Guide
The process for obtaining an eID takes place outside of sproof Sign and varies depending on the country and provider.
The following table shows which providers are available in your country.

Example 1: ID-Austria (Austria)
ID-Austria is the government electronic identity in Austria and the successor to the "Handy-Signatur". The entire process for registration, personal identification, and activation of the "ID Austria" app is managed by the Austrian authorities.
A detailed guide and the start of registration can be found on the official website:
id-austria.gv.at/de/registrieren
Example 2: German Identity Card (Germany)
-
Check requirements: You need:
-
An identity card with the online ID function activated (eID). For cards issued from July 2017 onwards this is usually active by default.
-
Your personal 6-digit PIN. (Note: The 5-digit "Transport PIN" from your PIN letter must first be changed to this 6-digit PIN via the AusweisApp).
-
An NFC-capable smartphone.
-
-
Install software: Download the "AusweisApp Bund" to your smartphone. The official source and instructions can be found on the official website: ausweisapp.bund.de/home
-
Identification by a trust service provider (QES provider): The AusweisApp is used solely for secure identification. The legally valid signature is issued in the background by a certified provider (e.g., PrimeSign or D-Trust):
-
Directly in the signature process (e.g., PrimeSign): You do not need to create a separate user account. Identification and certificate creation take place automatically within seconds while you scan your ID and enter the PIN.
-
Via an existing account (e.g., D-Trust/sign-me): With some providers you create an account once in advance, which is then linked to your eID.
-
Final Step in sproof Sign
Once your account with the external provider (e.g., ID-Austria) is fully activated, you can return to sproof Sign. If you now need to sign a document with a qualified signature, simply choose your provider from the list in the eID Hub and follow the authorization instructions.
